Eastern Nazarene Lands 20 Student-Athletes on NECC Spring All-Academic List

MARSHFIELD, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College garnered 20 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference selections as the league office announced the Spring Academic All-Conference Team June 3. A total of 194 student-athletes from the league's 10 member institutions were recognized by the conference.

In order to be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference honors, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade-point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00, and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's volleyball and men's and women's track & field were eligible for winter/spring NECC academic honors.

The men's basketball program featured seven honorees while the NECC champion ENC softball team placed five on the Academic All-Conference list. The women's basketball squad garnered four selections while the baseball team picked up three nods and the women's track & field program collected one accolade.

Among the honorees were All-NECC performers Garrett Crandell (Bristol, Tenn.), Josh Rice (Hanson, Mass.), Kyra Fleharty (Lewistown, Mont.), and Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.). Shannon Chau (San Francisco, Calif.) was named the NECC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year and Schaffer was tabbed the NECC Softball Pitcher of the Year this spring.

Six seniors, 12 juniors, and a pair of sophomores were honored. Recent graduate Meghan Stanley (Bedford, Mass.) of the Lions' softball team was the only three-time Academic All-Conference honoree.
