SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene placed 33 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference Fall Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by the league office Monday.
The Academic All-Conference honor rewards varsity student-athletes who attain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher and are not freshmen. The Fall Academic All-Conference Team encompasses student-athletes who participated in the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s tennis, and volleyball.
A total of 317 student-athletes from the conferences 10 member institutions earned the distinction.
The men’s soccer squad led the way with nine honorees, including All-Conference second team performer Edgar Arceo (Minden, Nev.). Arceo paced the Lions and the league with 10 assists on the year while also ranking 15th nationally with .56 assists per game.
The women’s soccer team garnered six honorees, headlined by All-Conference first team selection Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Morgan Goodney (East Greenwich, R.I.) who earned honorable mention. Speno ranked third in the conference with 11 goals on the season and second in the league with six game-winners, including the lone goal in Eastern Nazarene’s 1-0 victory over University of New England in the CCC quarterfinals.
Senior Sharon Lemire (Lyndeboro, N.H.) collected All-Conference honorable mention in the fall and was one of five student-athletes representing the women’s tennis team. The men’s cross country squad boasted seven honorees while the women’s team placed five. Junior Leann Williams (Oxford, Pa.) was the lone honoree from the women’s volleyball program.
