QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team edged Dean 2-1 on Senior Night Wednesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions, who are receiving votes in the latest D3Soccer.com National Poll, improve to 12-1-0 on the year and 4-0-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the result. The Bulldogs move to 4-9-0 overall and 1-2-0 in league action with the setback.
Prior to the start of the match, the Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer program honored its senior class: Sebastian Arboleda (Barranquilla, Colombia), Edmilson Centeio (New Bedford, Mass.), Jake Donovan (New London, N.H.), Stanley Elie (Roslindale, Mass.), Kirby Georgeon (Brockton, Mass.), Sunil Lepcha (Damak, Nepal), Noah Roberts (Haverhill, Mass.), Jose Ruiz (Jerez de la Frontera, Spain), and Prem Subedi (Scranton, Pa.).
The hosts netted the match's opening tally in the 38th minute to capture a 1-0 edge. Charlie Swann (London, England) notched his league-leading 13th goal of the year while Stanley Elie (Roslindale, Mass.) picked up his second assist of the season.
Eastern Nazarene fired 13 shots in the first half while limiting Dean to just one attempt.
The Bulldogs knotted the contest at 1-1 in the 74th minute as John Kauffman buried his first goal of the season.
The Lions reclaimed the lead in the final seconds of the match, benefitting from an own goal to take a 2-1 advantage.
The home team produced a season-high 30 shots while earning eight corner kicks on the night. Dean attempted eight shots in the game and earned three corners.
Junior netminder Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) finished with three saves in his fourth start of the fall.
