Men’s Tennis Topples Salem State 9-0

SALEM, Mass.- In its first match in nearly two weeks, the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team breezed by Salem State 9-0 on the road.

The Lions climb to 6-5 on the year with the win while the Vikings sink to 0-2 overall.

Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) and Alberto Escobar (Sevilla, Spain) downed Andrew Muttiah and Mitchell Dyer 8-4 at the No. 1 doubles position.

Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Tim Schoengens (Inden, Germany) rolled past Chen Chen and Noah Hodgkins at the second spot 8-3.

Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) and Jesus Lucart (Wylie, Texas) topped Roni Bazile and Moses Ba 8-3 at the No. 3 doubles slot.

Siercke notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over Bazile at the top singles spot to snap a five-match skid.

Escobar bested Chen 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 2 singles position while Opaschowski earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Dyer in the No. 3 singles match.

Rodriguez cruised past Ba 6-0, 6-1 at the fourth slot to collect his team-leading sixth win of the season.

Schoengens blanked Arman Chaharom 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot to pick up his team-best sixth singles victory.

Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.) also netted his sixth singles win of the year, prevailing at the No. 6 position over Johnson Ngandjui 6-0, 6-2.
