QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Emmanuel then rebounded to down York 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions progress to 3-5 on the season with the outcomes. The Saints improve to 4-4 overall with two wins on the day while the Cardinals sink to 1-4 on the year following a pair of losses.
Arthur Kossoski (Malden, Mass.) racked up 21 kills on the day to go with 17 digs. Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) posted 10 kills and five digs. James Garofalo (Commack, N.Y.) notched nine kills and 11 digs while James Hoopes (Lenexa, Kan.) finished with nine kills and five aces. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) dished out 55 assists on the afternoon and added nine digs and four service aces.
Eastern Nazarene absorbed a 3-0 setback to Emmanuel in the opening match.
The Saints established a 1-0 advantage after cruising to a 25-12 win in the first set.
Emmanuel stretched the margin to 2-0 with a 25-18 decision in the second frame.
The Saints captured the third 25-17 to secure their third victory of the year.
In the tri-match finale, Eastern Nazarene snapped its four-match skid with a straight-sets win over York in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
The hosts prevailed 25-18 in the first frame to claim a 1-0 lead.
The Lions doubled their advantage to 2-0 with a 25-13 victory in the second game.
Eastern Nazarene edged York 25-22 in the third set to cap off the sweep.
In the middle match of the day, Emmanuel cruised past York 3-0.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene welcomes Pine Manor to the Lahue Physical Education Center for a pair of non-conference tilts February 13.
