MEDFORD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team collected a 3-0 victory at Lesley before dropping a 3-0 decision to Elms Saturday afternoon in a conference tri-match.
The Lions move to 8-11 on the year and 3-4 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the results. The Lynx slide to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in league action with the loss. The Blazers improve to 18-4 on the season and 5-1 in conference matches.
Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) racked up 22 kills and five aces in the two matches. Danny Blue (Lansdale, Pa.) finished with 11 kills. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) posted 41 assists and dealt eight service aces.
In the first match of the afternoon, Eastern Nazarene cruised past Lesley 3-0.
Eastern Nazarene captured the opening set 25-9 to grab a 1-0 lead.
The Lions doubled their advantage to 2-0 with a 25-10 win in the second set.
Eastern Nazarene clinched its third league victory with a 25-15 decision in the third.
In their second match of the afternoon, the Lions fell to defending league champion Elms 3-0.
Elms edged Eastern Nazarene 25-21 in the first frame to seize a 1-0 lead.
The Blazers prevailed 25-14 in the second to widen the gap to 2-0.
Elms secured its third-straight victory with a 25-15 win in the third set.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene heads to Wentworth March 13 for a midweek match.
