MARSHFIELD, Mass.- After two stellar starts in the pitcher's circle, junior Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.) of the Eastern Nazarene College softball team hauled in her second New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week honor of the season, announced the league office Monday.
Schaffer posted a 2-0 record on the week with 19 strikeouts in 11.0 innings of work. She allowed no runs, one walk, and one hit in two starts.
In the Lions' 11-0 win at Lasell, Schaffer spun a one-hit complete game with 11 strikeouts in five innings.
The junior capped off the week with her first collegiate perfect game as Eastern Nazarene opened conference play with an 8-0 victory over Bay Path. Schaffer tossed a no-hitter while allowing no base-runners and fanning eight in six innings.
Schaffer also contributed offensively with three base knocks, including a three-run homer.
This season, Schaffer paces the league with 88 strikeouts and a 1.67 earned-run average to go with an 8-2 record. She has hurled nine complete games and amassed 58.2 innings pitched on the spring.
Eastern Nazarene sports an 11-7 overall record to go with a 2-0 mark in the NECC.
Up next, the Lions are slated to visit Simmons April 3 for an inter-conference doubleheader.
