MARSHFIELD, Mass.- Junior Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.) of the Eastern Nazarene College softball team picked up her second-straight New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week honor, announced the league office Monday.
Schaffer hurled five complete games in five appearances in the pitcher's circle to lead the Lions to a 3-3 record on the week. She racked up 40 strikeouts in 33 innings to post a 3-2 record.
In a non-conference loss at Simmons, Schaffer fanned seven batters in six innings of work.
Schaffer tossed a pair of complete games as Eastern Nazarene split a league doubleheader at Lesley. In game one, she struck out six while allowing just two hits as the Lions dropped a narrow 2-1 decision. Schaffer bounced back in game two to post nine strikeouts in an 11-2 victory.
Schaffer propelled the Lions to two crucial wins over New England College to cap off the week. She fired a pair of complete-game shutouts and recorded nine strikeouts in both outings. Schaffer surrendered just one hit and one walk in the first tilt and allowed four hits in game two.
She paces the conference with 128 strikeouts, an 11-4 record, 14 complete games, 91.2 innings pitched, and ranks second in the league with a 1.76 ERA on the season.
Eastern Nazarene sports a 14-10 overall record to go along with a 5-1 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Lions return to action April 10 at Newbury.
