SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Seniesha Sekaquaptewa (Scottsdale, Ariz.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team was tabbed the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
Sekaquaptewa averaged 13.3 points per game to help the Lions post a 2-1 record on the week.
In her first collegiate contest, she poured in 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor to lead Eastern Nazarene to an 80-59 victory over Dean in the season-opener.
Sekaquaptewa netted 17 points, hauled in four rebounds, and dished out four assists off the bench as the Lions topped Western Connecticut State 102-94 in the opening round of the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament.
The following day, Sekaquaptewa chipped in eight points, three steals, two boards, and two assists in the Lions' 63-51 loss to the host Judges in the championship game of the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament.
The rookie has connected on 13-of-20 attempts from the field on the year and has converted 13-of-15 free throws.
Sekaquaptewa ranks seventh in the conference with 13.3 points per game and second in the league with a field-goal percentage of 65.0%.
Eastern Nazarene returns to the hardwood November 21 to host Pine Manor in a non-conference clash.
