Day 2

From the Coaches....

Today was almost as incredible as Day 1. Our team got to visit Fort Buchanan, and we were able to get in a short practice. This evening, we went on a kayaking excursion to Laguna Grande in Farjando. This was insanely cool because this body of water hosts these micro single cell organisms that light up when agitated.

There are only 5 bays in the world where you can see these!! It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and it was incredibly cool! It was so fun to hear the girls enjoying themselves, experiencing the people and culture of Puerto Rico, and they've been so grateful for everything.

From the Players..

To start our morning we traveled to Fort Buchanan, the U.S. Military Base. Within the base, they had a high school where we were able to practice. The athletic director greeted us with open arms and was willing to help us in any way possible. After practice, we had several hours to enjoy ourselves some free time. Several of us spent the time at the pool, beach or exploring around our hotel. Later in the afternoon, we went kayaking in Bio Bay where we learned about the history of the island, the major ecosystems and especially bioluminescent micro invertebrates. Our guides for the trip were funny, helpful and informative making our kayaking trip very enjoyable. The kayaking trip helped build teamwork by each pair having to communicate what's ahead. Towards the end of our excursion we got caught in a rainstorm that made the trip even more memorable. All in all the day was great and we are ready for our big game tomorrow!
