WINTHROP, Mass.- Junior Sharon Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team has been tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday afternoon.
Biondi helped Eastern Nazarene to a pair of victories on the week, including a win in the program's first-ever GNAC match.
In the Lions' season-opening sweep at Lesley, she cruised to a straight-sets victory at the top singles position and teamed with Annelise Sherrill (Elk Grove, Calif.) to pick up a win at the No. 2 doubles slot.
Biondi posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 singles spot and partnered with Jacquelin Arretche (Los Banos, Calif.) to notch an 8-1 win at the second doubles position as Eastern Nazarene downed Regis 7-2 in the program's first-ever GNAC contest.
The Lions sport a 2-0 overall record to go with a 1-0 mark in league action.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will host non-conference foe Salem State in the first home match of the season September 12.
