QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team suffered non-league setbacks to Mount Ida and Westfield State Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions progress to 3-5 on the season while the Mustangs move to 5-5 overall and the Owls improve to 3-7.
Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) led the way with 16 kills on the day. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) finished with 14 kills, 15 digs and four service aces while Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) notched 18 digs and six kills. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) racked up 41 assists and 13 digs and Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) paced Eastern Nazarene defensively with 27 digs.
In the matinee match of the day, Eastern Nazarene dropped a 3-2 decision to Mount Ida.
The Lions prevailed in the opening game 25-17 before the Mustangs rallied to narrowly win the second frame 25-23.
Eastern Nazarene bounced back in the third set to regain a one-set advantage with a 25-23 decision.
Mount Ida rolled to a 25-11 victory in the fourth game and captured the decisive fifth set 15-8.
The Lions wrapped up play with a 3-0 loss to Westfield State. The home side fell 25-19, 25-17 and 25-11.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene opens conference play on the road at Western New England September 21.
