NEW LONDON, N.H.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team endured a pair of non-conference losses Saturday afternoon, dropping matches to Worcester State and host Colby-Sawyer.
The Lions fall to 9-13 on the year with the results. The Lancers improve to 14-6 overall while the Chargers climb to 8-13 on the season.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) racked up 18 kills, 20 digs, and a pair of aces on the day. Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) chipped in with nine kills and 14 digs. Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) posted six kills and three blocks while Rebecca Ashman (Havre de Grace, Md.) added six kills and seven digs. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) registered 41 assists and 23 digs while Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) collected 18 digs.
In its opening battle, Eastern Nazarene suffered a 3-1 setback to Worcester State.
After dropping the first set 25-16, the Lions clawed back with a 25-22 decision in the second to level the match.
The Lancers responded with a 25-19 win in the third frame before prevailing in the fourth 25-10 to secure the victory.
Eastern Nazarene absorbed a 3-0 loss to Colby-Sawyer in the tri-match finale and the first meeting between the two teams since 2010.
The Chargers jumped out to a 1-0 lead after claiming the first set 25-13.
The home team edged the Lions 25-23 in the second frame to widen the gap to 2-0.
Colby-Sawyer capped off the victory with a 25-13 win in the third game.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns to conference play October 10 with a road match at the University of New England.
