QUINCY, Mass.- Junior Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team has been selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
McCarthy propelled the Lions to four victories on the week with four double-double efforts en route to capturing MVP honors at the ENC Invitational Tournament.
In Eastern Nazarene's 3-1 win over Emmanuel, she notched a career-high 24 kills and added 18 digs. Her 24 kills are the third-highest single four-set match total in Division III this year.
McCarthy racked up 47 kills, 47 digs, and five service aces during the ENC Invitational tournament. She posted 17 kills to go with 17 digs as the Lions topped Nichols 3-1. McCarthy registered 12 kills and 11 digs along with three aces in Eastern Nazarene's 3-0 victory over Regis. In the Lions' thrilling come-from-behind 3-2 win over Framingham State, the junior tallied 18 kills and 19 digs.
This season, McCarthy paces the conference with 82 total kills while ranking fifth with 72 digs.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns to action September 13 with a road tilt at Suffolk.
