MANSFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team has been tabbed the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
This marks Aguilar's fourth career NECC Player of the Week accolade and first nod of the 2019 season.
Aguilar racked up 75 kills, 45 digs, 28 assists, 11 service aces, and five blocks on the week to help the Lions to a 2-2 record.
In Eastern Nazarene's 3-1 loss to Southern Maine, Aguilar and Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) both notched triple-doubles. Aguilar finished with 21 kills, 22 assists, and 13 digs to go with three aces on the night.
She registered 15 kills while adding four assists, three digs, two aces, and one block as the Lions dropped a 3-0 decision to the University of New England at the ENC Invitational.
Aguilar capped off the week with a pair of double-doubles on the final day of the ENC Invitational. She posted 20 kills and 17 digs as Eastern Nazarene rallied past Regis 3-2. In the Lions' 3-0 victory over Framingham State, Aguilar recorded 19 kills and 12 digs.
This season, Aguilar paces the league with 4.33 kills per set and 78 total kills while her .337 hitting percentage leads the conference.
Eastern Nazarene sports a 2-3 overall record and returns to action September 11 to host Plymouth State.
