QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team stretched its winning-streak to six matches with a pair of non-league victories over Fisher and Nichols Saturday afternoon at the ENC Classic presented by Tony's House of Pizza.
The Lions improve to 6-3 on the year with the two wins. The Bison move to 6-3 overall while the Falcons slide to 0-4.
Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) posted 18 kills and 12 digs on the day. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) racked up 16 kills and 14 digs while Halle Julian (Whitman, Mass.) tallied 16 kills and four total blocks. Rebecca Thorne (Quincy, Mass.) chipped in with 10 kills and Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) registered eight kills to go with 18 digs. Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) paced the squad with 31 digs in the two matches while Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) notched 19 digs. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) finished with 49 assists and 12 digs.
In the opening match of the day, Eastern Nazarene coasted by Fisher 3-0.
The Lions claimed the first frame 25-13 before cruising to a 25-10 win in the second. The hosts capped off their fifth-consecutive victory with a 25-9 decision in the third set.
Eastern Nazarene capped off the weekend with a straight-sets win over Nichols.
The home side edged the Bison 26-24 in the opening set to seize a 1-0 lead. The Lions prevailed 25-15 in the second frame to push their advantage to 2-0.
Eastern Nazarene triumphed 25-23 in the third frame to lock up its sixth victory in a row.
