Women’s Volleyball Tallies Straight-Set Win at Emmanuel

BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team downed Emmanuel 3-0 on the road Thursday evening in a non-conference matchup.

The Lions improve to 9-4 on the season with the win while the Saints fall to 5-9 overall.

Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) notched a team-high 15 kills while Halle Julian (Whitman, Mass.) registered nine kills. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) finished with 19 assists, six digs, three service aces, and three kills. Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) collected 15 digs and Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) added 10 assists.

The visitors clawed back from an initial 8-1 deficit to edge the home side 25-23 in the opening set.

In the second frame, Eastern Nazarene fended off a set-point by Emmanuel at 25-24. McCarthy tallied three-consecutive kills as the Lions captured the set 27-25 to widen the gap to 2-0.

Eastern Nazarene prevailed 25-16 in the third game to secure its third-straight victory.

Up next, the Lions return home to resume conference play October 5 against Bay Path.
