Women’s Soccer Falls to Rochester in Flower City Classic Finale

ROCHESTER, N.Y.- The Eastern Nazarene women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 setback to the host University of Rochester in the Flower City Classic Saturday.

The Lions move to 0-2-0 on the fall with the loss while the Yellowjackets improve to 2-0-0 overall.

Rochester claimed a 1-0 edge in the 37th minute as Laura Cowie-Haskell slotted home her second goal of the season off of a cross from Gabriella Goddette.

The Yellowjackets tallied their second goal of the first half with just 33 seconds on the clock. Gabrielle DiAngelo picked up her first score of the year and Carolina Manent earned an assist.

Eastern Nazarene fired three shots in the first period while Rochester notched five.

The home team increased its lead to 3-0 in the 51st minute of play. Kim Stagg curled a right-footed shot into the upper left corner of the goal off of a feed by Emily Downie.

The Yellowjackets added a score in the 67th minute as Stagg collected her second tally of the match with a long-range effort.

The Lions were led by rookie Kelly Couite (West Bridgewater, Mass.) with three shots on the day, including two attempts on target. Collectively, Eastern Nazarene recorded five shots in the contest while Rochester finished with 13 shots.

Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) turned aside five saves in goal for the visitors.

Aubrey Jaicks and Madilynne Lee combined to post a shutout in net for the Yellowjackets. Jaicks started the match and stopped three shots before giving way to Lee with under 21 minutes remaining.

Up next, the Lions travel to take on Lesley September 2 in a non-conference tilt.
