QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team earned a pair of 3-0 wins Saturday afternoon, downing Dean and Massachusetts Maritime Academy at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions improve to 12-4 on the year and 3-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the two victories. The Bulldogs progress to 8-10 overall and 0-3 in league competition while the Buccaneers sink to 0-14 on the season.
Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) registered a team-best 30 kills, 21 assists, and 15 digs. Rebecca Thorne (Quincy, Mass.) collected 12 kills on the day while Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) notched 15 digs, and 11 kills. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) dished out 50 assists on the afternoon. Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) tallied 30 digs and McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) chipped in with 14.
In the matinee matchup, Eastern Nazarene rolled past Dean 3-0 to collect its third conference win of the season.
The Lions cruised to a 25-10 victory in the opening set. The home team widened the gap to 2-0 with a 25-21 decision in the second before clinching the sweep with a 25-21 win in the third frame.
Eastern Nazarene capped off the tri-match with a 3-0 victory over Mass. Maritime.
The Lions claimed a 1-0 lead after triumphing 25-12 in the first game. The hosts captured the second frame 25-12 to stretch the margin to 2-0. Eastern Nazarene secured its second win of the year over the Buccaneers with a 25-17 decision in the third.
In the middle contest of the afternoon, Dean topped Mass. Maritime 3-1.
